When describing my work, I prefer the term “Infrastructure Engineer”, because over my near decade of experience in tech, since moving over from the deskside IT world, that’s where I’ve always gravitated! It’s what I love doing and where I want to spend my time!
Whether you want to call that “DevOps”, “Infrastructure”, “Site Reliability Engineering”, or something else, I’ve always viewed them as different sides of a weird shaped coin.
I’ve spent my career building, operating and improving cloud-native systems. Throughout this time, I’ve worked across cloud observability and security, healthcare technology, streaming video and Saas - both as a part of infrastructure and SRE teams, and as the sole engineer responsible for building and operating a company’s infrastructure
My work has revolved around Kubernetes and cloud infrastructure - with all the puzzle pieces that fit together to enable a resilient infrastructure, think CICD automation, observability, and security.
